Comparative analysis of waste management scenarios as part of an urban development project


  • Decision-making to help project initiators choose the best waste management scenario within a district according to local issues and ambitions
  • The tool helps reflect on how to manage waste upstream of the development project to address issues in terms of:

    • Reduction in waste collection nuisances

The tool consists of different modules which can be used independently:

  • Sources: calculation of the amount of waste produced within the district based on summary programming data (surface areas etc.), identification of the different flows
  • Objectives: list of recurrent or specific issues and objectives from which the objectives specific to the project examined can be selected
  • Scenario creation: interface making it possible to create waste collection and treatment scenarios for every type of waste
  • Scenario comparison: core function of the tool, making it possible to compare two scenarios. For each scenario created, a rating is determined according to different criteria, after which a radar diagram is created to help visualize the results
  • Location: useful during the detailed studies phase to help locate and design the waste collection and/or treatment solutions selected
